key points

  • First phase of drilling concluded in December 2007
  • 12 of the 13 holes encountered anomalous Au values
  • Additional exploration will include a target zone to the west

Of the wide variety of gold deposits found in Nevada, those that are hosted by sedimentary rocks are the most prolific, hosting in excess of 200 million oz gold (Au). One focus of Evolving Gold's exploration program is to explore for this type of deposit in areas which have experienced little or no such exploration in the past.

At Fisher Canyon, prospective gold-bearing sedimentary rocks have recently been found over a broad area. The geology of these rocks displays striking similarities to other such deposits throughout the state. Two of the main showings on the property show no evidence of past drilling, something uncommon in Nevada, making this an intriguing, unexplored new prospect.Because of very encouraging sample results, Evolving Gold staked 79 unpatented lode mining claims in 2007, covering about 1,600 acres of Bureau of Land Management maintained land with federal minerals. Encouragement also comes from the proximity of the Fisher Canyon property to other nearby deposits including Relief Canyon (Firstgold Corp.), Spring Valley (Midway Gold), Florida Canyon and Standard (Florida Canyon Mining Company), Rochester (Coeur d'Alene Mines) and Willard (closed, formerly Western States Minerals).

John Livermore, discoverer of the original Carlin deposit, got his start at the Standard Mine where he is credited as being the first geologist to recognize the importance of sedimentary rock hosted gold deposits. Although Livermore and his followers prospected the west side of the Humboldt Range, little exploration was ever undertaken on the east flank, the location of Fisher Canyon. At Evolving Gold, we believe the discovery of gold mineralization at Fisher Canyon may open up an entirely new prospective region for development. Further geochemical sampling was undertaken over the property in 2007, with positive results which assisted with target selection for the recent drilling campaign of 13 reverse circulation holes, completed in December 2007. Results are forthcoming.
